The old port of the city is today the Marina of Valencia, located next to the promenade of Playa del Cabañal, which has become an emerging socio-cultural centre. In the surrounding area there are many terraces and shops where you can contemplate the sea from one of the many restaurants along the promenade.

The Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències is an essential visit if you come to Valencia. The work of the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, it has several buildings that have become icons of the city. It is a scientific and cultural leisure complex to enjoy with family or friends that today occupies around two kilometres of the old Turia riverbed.

The city’s old port is now the Marina de València, a public space of one million m2 open to innovation and nautical activities. Located next to the Cabañal Beach promenade, the Marina de València has become an emerging socio-cultural focus of the city. Culture, training and entrepreneurship coexist with sport, tourism and gastronomy on a seafront that is already consolidated as a district of innovation.
In the Valencian dock, historic buildings such as the sheds, the Clock building or the old dry dock, coexist with the most avant-garde architectural proposals such as the iconic Veles e Vents, a cultural multi-space, where in addition to exhibitions, dance, art and music, in the Veles e Vents you can also enjoy very good gastronomy with several quality restaurants.
Barrio del Cabanyal
Seafaring quarter
El Cabanyal is Valencia’s seaside neighbourhood, full of colourful buildings, tiled façades and modernist architectural structures; a style that was forged in the second half of the 19th century and which has been the main bastion of the resistance of El Cabanyal when the neighbourhood was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.
Its cultural life and its proximity to the sea make this bohemian neighbourhood a place of artistic expressions and proposals of various kinds.
Urban beaches
Apart from some wonderful beaches in the surrounding area, the city of Valencia has some very good urban beaches just a short distance from the heart of the capital and easily accessible by public transport. You can visit the Playa de las Arenas and a little further north its continuation, the Playa de la Malvarrosa.
Playa de las Arenas beach is located next to the leisure area and the new marina and port of Valencia. It has a length of just over a kilometre and is strikingly wide, with an average width of 135 metres.
The Malvarrosa beach is the continuation in a northerly direction, following the promenade, it is approximately 1km long and has similar characteristics to its neighbouring beach, with the exception that this part is usually less crowded, and with fewer bars and restaurants, although you can also find some restaurants and terraces.
